Repentance… A Day in the Life

August 11th, 2017

Excerpts from a recent message.

Proverbs 28:13
King James Bible
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

The Bible is God speaking to us. If Jesus came to us in the flesh he would speak Scripture and words that correspond and confirm scripture. Repentance is (or should be) a part of the everyday Christian life.. Or “A day in the life”. Living in this fallen world, we are constantly reminded of the sin “that so easily besets us”. One point: unconfessed sin is unforgiven sin. To be sure, God in His great plan of Redemption laid all of our sins on Jesus at the cross. But we must accept the forgiveness that God offers. This is a daily walk. He gives us this day our daily bread. Like the manna in the days of old.

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
We must repent daily and ask for Jesus Holy Blood to wash us afresh. “…the Blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” “If we say that we have no sin, then we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
I have a question: in the light of Proverbs 28:13… Wonder what would’ve happened if Adam in the Garden after he sinned would’ve immediately confessed his sin? He doesn’t…he plays the blame game. “It’s the woman you gave me”.. In effect blaming God. “If you hadn’t given me that woman…” And that’s in every human DNA. Blame someone else. Sad really. Because until we accept responsibility for our circumstances God can do little to help. (Even if the circumstances are not necessarily your fault)
I’ve learned that some folk want help but don’t want to change.
In 2 Chronicles there is recorded for our admonition a story of King Ahaz. Now Ahaz was not a nice man. He caused Judah to sin. As king he even sacrificed his own children in the fire to appease demon gods. And then once his sin caused the nation to be destroyed, Ahaz refuses to repent and doubles down on stupid and says: “the gods of the Assyrians helped them, maybe if I sacrifice to them they will help me too.”
And the Bible says the gods “were the ruin of him”. And Judah suffered for his decisions because he was the leader. Ahaz is an OT poster child for what NOT to do. As I humbly see it, Ahaz had a choice. He could’ve turned to God in repentance and God would’ve forgiven him & spared his nation. He knew better. But, beloved many times folk know better but they don’t do better. Bad times for nation of Judah. Everything rises & falls on leadership.

Let us all exercise our leadership potential and turn to God in true repentance. He will abundantly pardon.

God bless you today.

Repentance… a Change in your life

August 7th, 2017
Yesterday’s sermon was on “Repentance: A Day in the Life”  (a look at King Ahaz)

The thought has often been that when a crisis occurs, that people would ‘run to the church’. Well, that’s just not so. In ‘recent’ times we’ve watched people fall away from the things of God, the Call of God. Instead of resisting the devil, people resist the voice of God. And the Bible teaches us that in the last days there will be a great falling away.  Now, that’s not to just accept the negative but to embrace the promise of God. It is thought that we no longer need to repent, but I find that contrary to The Word.

In times of trouble, in times of distress, I choose to run to Him.

He is my Peace, my Provider,
My Shelter, my Protector.
He is my Joy in times of great sorrow,

My Hope for a better and brighter tomorrow.

I choose Jesus. I search His Word daily. I find myself in need of Him. I will not try and convince myself that I can do it all on my own. I acknowledge my sin and errs, and repent. And at that point of repentance, I surrender my will to His.

“Many people want help, they just don’t want to change”.  P. Eugene

Repentance. it’s all about change.

Faith…

August 3rd, 2017

Heb. 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I can’t imagine how beautiful it would be to truly to express to others, how much I love Him, and how privileged it us to know what faith really is.

Beyond what  I know,
Beyond what I see,
I know in my heart,
That my Father loves me.

He’s given me joy, He’s given me peace.
He’s given me Jesus, my love will never cease.
I walk in His Presence, I rest in His Love.
A peace beyond understanding, it all comes from above.

Oh, how I love Jesus.
He’s a mighty good friend.
I will serve Him faithfully,
Throughout eternity, until this world ends.

Jesus, my Lord, and my Savior,
Always………………….

Simple Faith

August 1st, 2017

From time to time we all struggle. I wish I could just fix everything for everybody.  But…. I know the One who can.

God is faithful, and He’s always fighting for us. I sometimes lose sight of that in the day to day struggles of life and love.

Just a few simple thoughts:

We many times don’t have because we never ask and believe.
“You have not because you ask not, or you ask with wrong motives”

Ask , believe, and you shall receive….
“Ask and receive that your joy may be full”.

We must learn to step out and face the struggle, and combat it with God’s Word.

Can we all make the decision to guard our hearts and words, allowing the enemy no place to hinder our faith and prayer life.
I have determined to seek Him daily for help in every area of my life. My primary goal as a minister, as a child of God, is to make sure that in no way I cause someone to stumble and fall. My prayer each and every day is, “Lord, let me be an instrument of love and mercy. Let me walk worth of Your call. Let my words be helpful and encouraging to others”.

Onward, Upward, n Higher,

Always & Forever…JESUS

July 24th, 2017

So today, my decision is to keep Jesus as number one. He’s always there to help me, to lead me, and to guide me.  I will forever give Him thanks.

Psalms 103:KJV
1Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Is there anything, anyone as great as our God?  Nothing compares to the goodness and the mercies of Almighty God! NO thing, NO person!
So, while I sit here at the keyboard, my mind is relaxed and in ‘praise mode’. I rejoice in His goodness, and His mercy. He keeps on doing great things for me whereof I am glad.  I’m mindful each and every day that:
  • He saved me
  • He delivered me
  • He continues to bless me, my family and loved ones
  • He’s keeps watching over me, and preparing my way.

So, as the song says…. “I will trust HIM” because He’s faithful to His Word.  I encourage you to spend more time with Him. Read His Word daily and continue in prayer.

God bless you,

`Pastor Lovie
